At approximately 2:40 a.m. on July 22nd, Palestine Police Officer Brandon Martin attempted a traffic stop on a white Chrysler passenger car on Link Street near Palestine Avenue. Officer Martin observed Scotty Ostrander, 36, of Palestine, driving the vehicle. Ostrander was known to have multiple felony warrants, including a parole violation.
After the emergency lights were activated on the patrol car, the suspect vehicle failed to stop. The vehicle then sped up and continued to evade, eventually heading north on Highway 19, reaching speeds over 100 mph. The pursuit continued to Montalba, then onto FM 321 to FM 315.
Once on FM 315, Officers observed a bag being tossed from the vehicle's front passenger window. The pursuit then continued onto FM 837. After reaching Bradford, the vehicle stopped in the 1100 block of FM 837. Ostrander and the passenger, who was identified as Holly Bishop, 33, of Palestine, were taken into custody.
During a search of the vehicle, Officers located multiple syringes containing suspected methamphetamine. Officers also located the black bag that was tossed from the vehicle on FM 315. The bag contained additional syringes, a digital scale, and small plastic baggies.
Ostrander was transported to the Anderson County Jail and booked for the warrants, along with charges for Evading Arrest Detention w/ Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 less than 1g. Bishop was booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 less than 1g and Tampering with Evidence with Intent to Impair.
