PALESTINE, Texas (February 8, 2023) - A Palestine man is in jail after being found in possession of a large amount of suspected methamphetamine during a warrant arrest Wednesday morning.
Just before 3 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8th, Corporal Allen with the Palestine Police Department was investigating an illegally parked vehicle in the 1100 block of N. Queen.
While on scene, it was reported to Officers that Mark Kimbrough, 61, of Palestine, was inside of the residence at 1101 N. Queen. Kimbrough was wanted for a parole violation. Officer McCoy and Officer Hughes responded to the location for back up.
As Officers approached the residence, Kimbrough was seen exiting the back of the house. Officers made contact with Kimbrough, who then turned and fled back towards the house. Kimbrough then tried to get back into the residence but was unsuccessful.
Before surrendering to Officers, Kimbrough was seen tossing a plastic bag away from his person. Kimbrough was taken into custody without further incident.
Upon further inspection, the plastic bag was found to contain over 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and over 2 grams of prescription tablets, identified as propranolol hydrochloride.
Kimbrough was placed under arrest for the Parole warrant and the following charges:
• Possession Controlled Substance PG1 4 grams to 200 grams
• Possession of Dangerous Drug
• Evading Arrest Detention w/ Previous Conviction
• Tampering/Fabricate Evidence w/ Intent to Impair
Kimbrough was transported to the Anderson County Jail and booked without incident.
