About Us
The Historic Landmarks Commission is tasked to work on behalf of the citizens of Palestine to protect our historic neighborhoods and landmarks through a review of proposed changes to historic properties and to ensure that these properties continue to be maintained for the benefit of all residents.
The Historic Landmarks Commission is comprised of seven members. Members serve two-year terms. The City Council may re-appoint HLC members as their terms expire not to exceed ten consecutive years. The mayor shall fill any vacancies that may occur before a term has expired only for the remainder of the term.
