Friends of the Library
Palestine Library Friends, Inc. exists to "foster among its members and the general public an enriched recognition, utilization, and support of the Palestine Public Library and its facilities and services. It shall engage in such programs, services, fundraising, and other activities that support this purpose."
Programming for adults and youth on a variety of educational and informative topics; exceptional genealogy and local history department; all the latest books, audiobooks, databases, and DVDs; more than 50 magazines and several newspapers, including Palestine, Athens, Tyler, Dallas, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today; Interlibrary Loan; other business resources; computers and free Wi-Fi access all contribute to the vital role the library plays in people's lives.
The Friends organization helps the library by funding the Summer Reading Club Program and the Dogwood Children's Literacy and Arts Festival. Other support activities have included purchasing a digital microfilm reader, a display cabinet for the John Henninger Reagan bust by Elisabet Ney, a server, an RFID station, and, of course, books.
Palestine Public Library is recognized as being a quality-of-life indicator known as a place for education and enjoyment for the entire family. Please check the Library's calendar for a full range of programs and services offered.
