The Hispanic Community Outreach Program is designed to provide assistance to Spanish-speaking residents in the Palestine area. Community Liaison Michele Herbert and Officer Fernando Nino are the Hispanic Community Liaison Officers and the UNIDOS Coordinators. They serve as the liaisons between the Hispanic Community and the Palestine Police Department with the intent to bridge the gap between the department and the Hispanic Community.
The UNIDOS program was developed to provide valuable resources and information to the Spanish-speaking Community. The main objective of the program is to help promote a safer community and a better quality of life for all who live and work in our community through education and empowerment.
UNIDOS meetings and events are held throughout the year. The intent of the program is to act as a resource center for Spanish-speaking residents and present information and provide assistance in areas of importance to the Hispanic Community. Our UNIDOS program seeks to continue building positive relationships with our Spanish-speaking Hispanic/Latino community with programming, information, and events done entirely in Spanish.
