Patrol Division

The function of Patrol Division is to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Palestine and maintain the public peace. Uniformed officers proactively prevent and deter crime and respond to citizens calls for service. As first responders, the preservation of life and the prevention of injury is the highest priority of the patrol officer. In addition, the patrol officer is responsible for the protection of property, maintenance of public order, prevention of crime, enforcement of laws and ordinances, and arrest of law violators.

Captain Jamie Lester

Assistant Chief of Police

Captain Jamie Lester was appointed Assistant Chief of Police in February of 2022 and previously promoted to Captain of the Palestine Police Department in 2019, becoming the first woman to hold that position in the City of Palestine. During her law enforcement career, she has also served as patrol officer, corporal, and sergeant. Captain Lester holds a Master Peace Officer license and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in the spring semester of 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
