Emergency Management
Call 911 when there is a life-threatening emergency that requires the immediate response of emergency services such as police, fire, or paramedics.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency defines emergency management as the managerial function charged with creating the framework within which communities reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters.
Another definition may be mitigating and preparing for natural or man-made emergencies, coordinating the response when they happen, and expediting the recovery from them.
Palestine is served by a system called "Rave Alerts." Rave Alerts allows residents to sign up for an emergency or general notifications from the city on their cell or home phones as well as by email. There is no fee to sign up or use the Rave Alerts service. However, standard messaging rates may apply. For additional information regarding Rave Alerts, please contact the EMC.
Emergency Management coordinates the efforts of first responders and others to minimize the impacts of any emergency. In the picture below, emergency management assumes a key role wherever the responsibilities for responding to two or more city departments/emergency services overlap.
View the Rave Alerts website.
Stay connected to the most up-to-date alerts from the Department of Homeland Security by viewing the Summary of Terrorism Threat to the U.S. Homeland website.
