The Federal Emergency Management Agency defines emergency management as the managerial function charged with creating the framework within which communities reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters.

Another definition may be mitigating and preparing for natural or man-made emergencies, coordinating the response when they happen, and expediting the recovery from them.

Rave Alerts allows residents to sign up for an emergency or general notifications from the city on their cell or home phones as well as by email. There is no fee to sign up or use the Rave Alerts service. However, standard messaging rates may apply. For additional information regarding Rave Alerts, please contact the EMC.

Emergency Management coordinates the efforts of first responders and others to minimize the impacts of any emergency. In the picture below, emergency management assumes a key role wherever the responsibilities for responding to two or more city departments/emergency services overlap.

Anderson County Office of Emergency Management: The Anderson County Emergency Management Coordinator represents the county judge in matters of emergency management. They also have a Facebook page.
