Building Inspections & Permits
The Building Inspections Division of Development Services provides plan reviews for new construction projects and monitors compliance with the City of Palestine's building codes and ordinances.
Office Hours & Inspection Services
The Building Inspections and Permitting office is open Monday through Thursday from 8 am until 5 pm and Fridays from 9 am until 5 pm Offices may be closed from 12 pm to 1 pm.
To request an inspection, please call the Planning Technician or the Building Inspector, whose contact information is listed in the left sidebar. Same-day inspection requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Otherwise, the inspection will be conducted within 24 hours.
Newly Adopted Building Permit Fees
Effective date: July 1, 2019
General Construction Permits
New Residential Construction, Under 5000 Square Feet: $0.40 per Square Feet.
New Residential Construction, Over 5001 Square Feet: $0.30 per Square Feet.
New Commercial Construction, Under 10,000 Square Feet: $0.30 per Square Feet.
New Commercial Construction, Over 10,001 Square Feet: $0.15 per Square Feet.
Plan Review Fee
Residential One and Two-Family: Exempt
Commercial: 25% of Applied Permit Fees
Mechanical Trade Permits: Fee Minimum
Electrical Permit Residential Minimum Fee: $30
Electrical Permit Commercial Minimum Fee: $40
Plumbing Permit Residential Minimum Fee: $30
Plumbing Permit Commercial Minimum Fee: $40
HVAC Permit Residential Minimum Fee: $30
HVAC Permit Commercial Minimum Fee: $40
Residential Permit: $50
Commercial Permit: $100
Residential and Commercial - $0.40 per SQ. FT.
Swimming Pool Permit
Residential Swimming Pool: $150
Commercial Swimming Pool: $300
Residential and Commercial Fence Permits: $50
Residential and Commercial Driveway Permits: $50
Certificate of Occupancy
Clean and Show: $40
Certificate of Occupancy: $80
Contractors doing work in the City of Palestine are required to be registered with Development Services.
The registration cost is $125 and is good for one year.
Trades that are registered through the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration are not required to pay the yearly Contractor fees.
