The Federal Emergency Management Agency defines emergency management as the managerial function charged with creating the framework within which communities reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters.
Another definition may be mitigating and preparing for natural or man-made emergencies, coordinating the response when they happen, and expediting the recovery from them.
Emergency Management coordinates the efforts of first responders and others to minimize the impacts of any emergency. In the picture below, emergency management assumes a key role wherever the responsibilities for responding to two or more city departments/emergency services overlap.
Palestine is served by a system called "Rave Alerts." Rave Alerts allows residents to sign up for emergency or general notifications from the city on their cell or home phones as well as by email. There is no fee to sign up or use the Rave Alerts service. However, standard messaging rates may apply.
