PALESTINE, Texas (April 12, 2017) – On May 6, the Palestine Civic Center will host two up-and-coming country artists as the City of Palestine kicks off its inaugural concert for the Pine Curtain Concert Series.
Curtis Grimes and Jake Worthington, both featured on NBC’s “The Voice,” will take the Pine Curtain Concert stage, starting at 8:30 p.m. The Pine Curtain Concert Series is to be a quarterly event featuring all genres of music and will provide entertainment for all.
“The City of Palestine created the Pine Curtain Concert Series as a fun, family-friendly event our residents and visitors can share,” Civic Center Event Coordinator Victoria Minton said. “Both Curtis and Jake are well known on the country music scene and will kick off this year’s series in the right way.”
Grimes was a quarter-finalist from season one of “The Voice.” Since then, Grimes has charted five back-to-back No. 1 singles on the Texas County charts. In 2014, Grimes was named the Texas Regional Radio Male Artist of the Year. His most recent album “Undeniably Country” was released in November 2016 and debuted at No. 16 on Billboard Heatseekers chart.
Worthington has kept going after his runner-up finish on “The Voice” in 2014 with two EPs that have taken off. His latest single, “Just Keep Falling in Love,” recently aired on country music video outlets GAC and CMT. Coming off a successful 2016 tour, Worthington was nominated for the 2017 CMA of Texas Male Artist of the Year.
Both artists will take the Civic Center’s main stage, while a dance area will be set up in the center. Concessions, including beer and wine, will also be available.
“Many people are planning to come to the concert after the Anderson County Youth Livestock Association Crawfish Boil,” Minton said. “This concert is a great opportunity to be the after party and we welcome everyone to enjoy.”
The Pine Curtain Concert Series would not possible without the support of sponsors Braly’s Hardware, Railroad Customs and Collisions, Ben E. Keith Distributors and L&M Cleaning.
Tickets are $10 and are available at City Hall, 504 N. Queen St., and the Palestine Visitor Center, 825 W. Spring St., and online at outhousetickets.com. Tickets at the door will be $15. For more information on the series, contact Minton at 903-723-2026.
