Program Description

The Street Maintenance Department provides maintenance for 178 miles of streets, roads and drainage facilities inside the city limits. Maintenance ranges from street sweeping, patching, rebuilding minor streets, curbing and guttering, and maintenance of storm sewer systems.

Goals

• Develop a drainage maintenance program.

• Improve quality of street repairs.

• Refine the street inventory rating system.

• Provide a uniform traffic sign system.

• Improve street lighting.

Objectives

• Train and develop standards for street repairs.

• Analyze 5-year street inventory plan.

• Improve and replace sub-standard signs.

• Replace old street lighting with energy efficient fixtures.

• Develop prioritized drainage project list.

• Update street inventory ratings.
