Program Description

The Refuse Disposal Department consists of the City compost site and the street sweeper. The compost site is open on Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This location provides a place for the residents within the City of Palestine to dispose of their yard waste such as grass clippings and brush. the Street Sweeper helps to keep the city streets and roadways clean of leaves, grass clippings and debris which can restrict the flow of storm water. The Sweeper also sweeps downtown areas for the city parades and festivals and always does this as promptly and efficiently as possible. This department strives to keep our town pleasing to the citizens and visitors of Palestine. Olympic Waste is the sanitation contractor for refuse collection in the city.

• Begin mulching brush at compost site.

• Continue to sweep city streets.

• Maintain storm water system.

• Mulch brush at compost site with outside contractor.

• Sweep streets by district schedule.

• Clean storm water inlets on a regular schedule.
