The Police Department is organized into three inter-related Bureaus responsible for preserving human life, maintaining public order, protecting the rights of persons and property, and enforcing all applicable laws and ordinances within the City of Palestine. Police Administration provides overall leadership and direction and is responsible for the promulgation of policies and procedures that govern the operations and personnel activities of the entire department.
The Police Department Administration will foster an environment of accountability, equality and diversity, leading by example.
The department will form strong, lasting and mutually beneficial working relationships with the other area law enforcement agencies as well as other business and civic and community groups.
We will fully utilize the analysis and search capabilities of our reporting system so we can work smarter and not just harder in our targeted enforcement areas.
Ensure that our personnel receive the most up-to-date training and equipment that can be reasonably provided. Consider non-traditional training and equipment possibilities as well as normal industry standards. This will keep us heading in the right direction to being an efficient and professional department.
Contact and utilize the various skills and strengths of area law enforcement when they can be of assistance to us in better serving our citizens. We will need to make our assets available to these groups in times when we can be of assistance to them.
Continue working to improve our community relations and interaction as we move forward in our community policing efforts. The creation of a Citizens Police Academy and a Mounted Patrol will open new avenues as a means to interact with our community.
Complete training on our contracted reporting system, CRIMES, so that our officers spend less time writing reports, and more time on the streets. Study our department report flow and remove redundant reporting issues.
