Program Description

This department ensures adequate, safe, well-maintained terrain of over 1,100 acres of parkland, which includes athletic fields and playgrounds to significantly enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Palestine. The landscaping, maintenance of the playground equipment, shelters, tables and restrooms and the general upkeep of all of these facilities are the responsibility of this department.

Goals

• Complete Parks System Master Plan.

• Improvements to Greens Park Pool.

• Add restroom to Upper & Lower Lakes.

• Add playground equipment.

• Erect monument signs.

Objectives

• Perform master plan as part of Comprehensive City Master Plan.

• Re-plaster Greens Park Pool.

• Construct two restrooms at Upper & Lower Lakes.

• Add one unit of playground equipment per year to parks.

• Construct one monument sign per year to parks.
