Program Description

This department is responsible for all information processing requirements for all City departments. This includes maintenance of hardware and software as well as supporting computer users with training and technical assistance. Another responsibility of this department is to advise department heads in the efficient and timely automation of tasks previously performed manually. This department supports all mid-range and PC computer equipment in use by City departments.

Major mid-range software applications now in use are general ledger, accounts payable, payroll/personnel, budget preparation aid, centralized cash receipts, utility billing and collections, and Municipal Court.

The most important PC software applications include computer aided design, building permits, AS/400 communications, word processing, spreadsheet programs, database, and desktop publishing.
