The Palestine Public Library provides library service for Palestine/Anderson County residents. The Library enables residents to have access to ideas, information, experiences, and materials that support and enrich the lives of all members of the community. The Library creates an environment for all residents to learn, to explore, to enjoy, to create, and to be inspired. Library staff acquire and maintain an up-to-date collection of fiction, non-fiction, historical, and reference materials in a variety of formats including but not limited to books, magazines, newspapers, audio materials, CDs, DVDs, and databases.
Provide public access to a wide variety of information resources that reflect the need and diversity of the community.
Develop customer service that facilitates confidential access to collections, services, and facilities to all members of the community.
Provide a facility that serves as a vital community meeting place, facilitates study groups of all ages, accommodates workflow of staff processes, and protects safety and security of people and materials.
Provide public access to internet and business computing resources.
Develop positive relations with community groups and individuals.
Develop long-range plans that include facilities, collections, and staffing.
Support collection development with good fiscal management of resources.
Prepare staff for positive customer service by providing continuing education opportunities.
