Mission
CIVIC CENTER
This department maintains and runs the Civic Center complex in a professional manner and increase the utilization of the facility by the community and visitors in order to create a revenue source which provides funds for maintenance, operations and enhancement of the complex and retirement of debt.
Goals
Increase revenue of Civic Center through expanded events.
Enhance the condition of the Civic Center.
Expand staff and services.
Objectives
Position the Civic Center so that it takes care of its basic needs of salaries, maintenance and utilities.
Improve and upgrade the looks and equipment of the Civic Center in order to improve its position in an ever competitive market.
Expand the current work load to offer expanded services and increased professionalism.
Develop speaking engagements to promote Palestine and the Civic Center as a meetings destination.
Acquire an Architectural Plan for the Civic Center to expand its usage.

TOURISM
Enhancement of the economic climate of Palestine by marketing the city to meeting groups, motorcoach operators, attending travel shows, and advertising in publications and periodicals. Creating, producing and promoting events and festivals and producing, distributing and maintaining informational materials for the visitors, convention delegates, motorcoach operators and travel writers.
GOALS
Enhance awareness of tourism as an industry.
Create volunteer force for Visitor Information Center and generate revenue for facility.
Expand festivals and events to one per month.
Continue to expand and build on existing marketing program.
OBJECTIVES
Expand community awareness of the value of tourism and the tremendous economic impact it has.
Develop a volunteer force that will man the Visitor Information Center during operation hours and assist with other projects.
Create a base of activities that will bring visitors to town on a continuous basis in order to generate more tourism dollars.
Continue to build on existing programs and expand on and explore additional avenues of marketing and promotion.
